INGREDIENTS:
FOR THE SPIDER DOUGH:
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Instant Yeast
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3/4 cup Warm Water (about 110ºF)
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- Black Olives or Sausage Bits, for eyes
FOR THE VEGGIE SALAD:
- 1 cup Mixed Greens (Spinach, Argula, or Romaine)
- 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes, halved
- 1 Cucumber, diced
- 1 medium Bell Pepper (any color), chopped
- 1/2 cup Red Onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium Avocado, diced
- 1/4 cup BlackOlives, sliced
- 1/4 cup Feta Cheese (optional)
FOR THE DRESSING:
- 3 Tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Honey or Maple Syrup
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- Fresh Herbs (Basil or Parsley), for garnish
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt.
Step 2
Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
Step 3
Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Step 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC).
Step 6
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Carefully drape the rolled dough over an inverted oven-safe bowl to create a “bowl” shape. Trim any excess dough.
Step 7
Place the dough-bowl structure on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
Step 8
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, mixed greens, red onion, avocado, and black olives.
Step 9
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
Step 10
Once the pizza dough bowl has cooled slightly, cut out a whole in the top and fill it generously with the spider vegetable salad. Cut out two small holes in the head and insert the black olive or cooked sausage bits for the eyes.
Step 11
Sprinkle feta cheese and fresh herbs on top for an extra burst of flavor.
Step 12
Slice the pizza dough bowl into wedges or serve it whole for a fun and unique salad experience.
