About this Recipe
Combining the salty, savory flavor of pork chops with a sweet and tangy caramel sauce, our Sweet and Savory Caramel Apple Pork Chops is a truly delicious and unforgettable meal.
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 Bone-In Pork Chops (1-inch thick)
- 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 medium Tart Apples, cored and sliced
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- Chopped Pecans, for garnish (optional)
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375ºF (190ºC).
Step 2
Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned. Remove the pork chops and set aside.
Step 4
In the same skillet, add the sliced apples and sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
Step 5
Stir in the brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and lemon juice.
Step 6
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning some sauce over them.
Step 7
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145ºF (63ºC).
Step 8
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped pecans, if desired. Serve warm with extra caramel apple sauce.
TIPS:
To make the dish even sweeter, use a combination of brown sugar and maple syrup in the sauce.
SERVINGS SUGGESTIONS:
Serve with a side of smashed potatoes, roasted veggies and/or a green salad.
