  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • A splash Lemon Juice, for added brightness (optional)

TO PREPARE THE COCKTAILS

Step 1

In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, fresh lemon juice, cherry simple syrup, and orange juice.  Fill the shaker wit hice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

Step 2

Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Step 3

Create the Sunrise Effect – Slowly pour the grenadine into the glass, over the back of a spoon, allowing it to sink to the bottom, creating a beauitful gradient effect that resembles a sunrise.

Step 4

Garnish with a lemon twist or an orange slice, and if desired, add a maraschino cherry on top.  Sip and Enjoy!

TO PREPARE THE CHERRY SIMPLE SYRUP

YIELD

1 cup

Step 1

If using fresh cherries, wash them thoroughly, remove the pits, and slice them in half. If using frozen cherries, no need to thaw; you can use them straight from the freezer.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, and water. If you want to enhance the flavor, add a splash of lemon juice.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved. This should talk about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4

Once the sugar is dissolved, bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow. itto simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cherries will break down, and the syrup will take on a beautiful red color.

Step 5

After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat. Using a fine-mesh strainer or cheese cloth, strain the syrup into a clean jar or bottle, discarding the solids.

Step 6

Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before sealing the jar. Once cooled, refrigerate your cherry simple syrup. It should last for about 2-3 weeks in the fridge.  Enjoy!
