About this Recipe
Easy to make and ready in under an hour, these apple cinnamon hand pies have a juicy cinnamon apple pie filling and will be a favorite for the whole family! Perfect for enjoying any time of the day!
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 1/2 cups Fuji Apples, peeled, cored, and diced (about 3 medium apples)
- 2 Rolls Refrigerated Pie Dough
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 1 Large Egg, beaten lightly
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400ºF (204ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, drizzle melted butter over the diced Fuji apples and stir to coat.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Sprinkle mixture over buttered apples and stir until apples are evenly coated with the spice mixture. Set aside.
Step 4
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each of the refrigerated pie dough. Using a dough cutter, pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each dough evenly into 6-8 rectangles. Place 6 (or 8) rectangles on one baking sheet and 6 (or 8) rectangles on the other baking sheet.
Step 5
Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto 6 (or 8) of the dough rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges. Place the other 6 (or 8) rectangles over the filled bottoms, and crimp the edges together with a fork to seal.
Step 6
Cut 3 to 4 small slits in the top of each hand pie, then brush with egg wash and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Step 7
Place the cookie sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the hand pies are golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Step 8
Remove from the oven and let the hand pies cool for a few minutes before serving.
SERVINGS NOTES:
Serve hand pies warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
