About this Recipe
Indulge in a decadent breakfast with our Cinnamon Apple French Toast Bake. Filled with cinnamon-spiced apples, custard-soaked bread, and a crispy topping. Perfect for a lazy weekend brunch or holiday morning treat.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 loaf French Bread, cut into cubes
- 4 large Pink Lady Apples, peeled and diced
- 6 large Eggs
- 1 1/2 cups Milk
- 1 teasoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, divided
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup Butter, melted
- 1/2 cup Walnuts, chopped
- Maple Syrup, for serving
- Powder Sugar, for dusting
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Step 2
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add apples and cook, stirring often, until just tender, about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon; continue cooking until sugar has dissolved, about 1-2 minutes. Set aside and let cool.
Step 4
In greased baking dish, spread half of the bread cubes across the bottom, than top with half the diced apple mixture, and cover with the rest of the bread cubes and apples mixture.
Step 5
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and rest of cinnamon. Pour evenly over the bread and apples layers.
Step 6
Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the middle.
Step 7
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top. Enjoy!
COOKING NOTES:
If preparing the night before, make sure to cover tightly with Saran wrap and place in refrigerator overnight. When ready to cook, place in preheated oven and follow cooking instructions above.
SERVINGS NOTES:
Serve hand pies warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
